Bargain Alert: Blackberry Playbook now from £169

BlackBerry Playbook I'm not a huge Blackberry Playbook fan... I felt a promising spec-list was ruined by the limited software when I tested it at launch: an opportunity missed.

Carphone Warehouse now has the device discounted to £169 (16GB), £199 (32GB) and £249 (64GB) - a significant discount from its launch price which started at £399. With the promise of an improved software-load (in version 2.0 shown at CES recently) or even just to use as a well-specced web-browsing tablet it now looks quite appealing.

Carphone Warehouse are offering all three variants with free delivery or in-store pick-up. Don't forget to refuse the poor-value 'Geek Squad' insurance.

Update: Other retailers are now also offering these prices: PC World / Currys.

Update 2: My 16GB device has now arrived from Carphone Warehouse. In addition to a surprisingly capable web browser, which happily runs complex sites like Tweetdeck Web, I've been impressed by the quality of the stereo speakers. The device is more than capable of streaming TV and radio (including BBC iPlayer) so it's also serving time as bedside / office portable radio too.
