If you strip out the usual array of concerns over WiFi security, which most consumers are successfully managing every day and definitely aren’t MiFi-specific, this is a pretty flimsy attempt to support a link-bait headline.
The suggestion in the title rests on the fact that GSM encryption has been cracked, but this far from justifies the ‘wiretapping possible’ sub-head and isn’t supported by the experts quoted anyway. One can only speculate what ‘may’ be possible in future whilst another points out there’s no credible risk given how hard it is to do. The fact current 3G mobile solutions aren’t vulnerable to this anyway is also conveniently ignored.
I’d post an angry comment if plenty of other people hadn’t beaten me to it…
